The Districts are a garage-folk rock band from Lititz, Pennsylvania. The group was formed by four small town high schoolers in 2009. The current bandmates are Rob Grote on vocals and guitar, Connor Jacobus on bass, Braden Lawrence on drums and Pat Cassidy on guitar. The Districts signed to Fat Possum Records in 2013. Some might think it’s a weird mix to be considered both garage rock and folk, but it goes together quite perfectly in The Districts’ case. The intertwining of fuzzy guitar riffs with Grote’s soft but grungy voice at times, creates a soothing tune.
The Districts latest album from 2015, A Flourish and a Spoil, received recognition by gaining a spot on Billboard Heatseekers and the Top Independent Albums. After a bit of time, the band finally released a new single off their new album this past February. Grote had explained in a press release stated by Consequence of Sound, “’Ordinary Day’ deals with a sort of personal alienation and the realization that you and the world around you’ve existed in have changed.” “Ordinary Day” is just a teaser for fans to wait for the upcoming album to be relased.
