R.A. The Rugged Man @ Underground Arts 5/26

R.A. The Rugged Man is an American rapper from New York with a unique style of his own. Since 1992, R.A. has never stopped rapping. R.A. has been known for his lyrical skills and sick beats. R.A. has released a handful of mixtapes, one EP, and two studio albums in his rap career. R.A. has also starred in a few movies. He will be performing at the Underground Arts at the end of the month.

R.A. Thorburn, better known as R.A. The Rugged Man, signed to Jive Records at the age of 18. After many delays, R.A. decided to part ways with the record label, never releasing his debut album. R.A. instead signed with indie label Nature Sounds in 2004 and released his debut album Die Rugged Man Die the same year. R.A took some time off before releasing another album. In the meantime, R.A. wrote a movie column as a critic in his spare time. R.A. also wrote for several magazines during his hiatus. R.A. also had some parts in major films in the last seven years.  R.A.’s second album, Legends Never Die, was released years after his first.

Legends Never Die, R.A.’s second album was released 2013. The album has guest appearances from various rappers like Tech N9ne, Brother Ali, Hopsin, and many others. The album debuted at number 1 on Billboard Heatseekers chart and number 17 on Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart. The album was highly successful and surprising after R.A.’s hiatus. R.A. The Rugged Man is one of the most creative rappers on the face of the planet. He can literally do it all from writing and directing to rapping.

Donovan Wilkins: Donovan Wilkins is a self-taught photographer and published writer. He lives in Glenside after moving from his hometown of Philadelphia. After studying Liberal Arts at CCP, he decided to focus his time on his writing and photography. In 2016, Donovan completed his first feature-length screenplay, The Coast is Clear. During his career, Donovan worked on a small budget film in Philadelphia as part of a writing team. Since then, he has written various short screenplays.
