Sigur Ros has not released an album in nearly four years but it looks like that could change very soon. Today, the band has shared a short teaser video for something called “Norður og niður.” If you look at the YouTube description it gives a link for you to sign up for their mailing list and it says soon. In Icelandic, “Norður og niður” roughly translates to “North and down” or “Northward and downward.” another possible translation that Facebook gives is Go To Hell, which would be quite an interesting name for an album cover.
The band also debuted the song “Niður” during their recent leg of US tour dates. Be sure to check out the video down below and stay tuned for any new information coming out about this album.
UPDATE: According to Pitchfork, representatives for the band have clarified that this is not an album announcement or teaser. However, they would not elaborate on just what the teaser is all about. The article also reveals that by signing up for the mailing list, the enrollee is sent a message that reads “soon…”
