According to USA Today, country music legend Loretta Lynn has been hospitalized after suffering a stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, May 4, the 85-year-old singer’s publicist Maria Malta confirmed. According to a Facebook post on her official account, the singer is undergoing treatment, is responsive, and a full recovery is expected.
Lynn has been a staple of the country music world, releasing records since the early 60s, performing with artists like Willie Nelson and Conway Twitty, with whom she had an extensive professional relationship . She most recently released her 40th studio album Full Circle in 2016, and will be releasing her 41st album, Wouldn’t It Be Great, in August of this year. She’s not only recording music, but is also active as a live performer, an incredible feat for someone well into her eighth decade. However, her doctors have advised her to take some time away from the road following the stroke. Because of this recommendation, she has postponed the remainder of her current tour.
