Alt-J @ The Shrine Auditorium 8/9

The sign for Alt-J, “∆” is a symbol that represents change or difference is one of the more fitting themes for band of such uniqueness.  After their debut release in 2012 Alt-J has enjoyed a steady rise in their musical endeavors accompanied by a continuous and gradual growth in popularity.  Formed in 2007 Alt-J has been one of leading groups on the “folktronica” genre, blending together indie rock, folk vocals, and electronic vibes that please any set of ears that pick up on the sonic blending.

Their biggest single to date “Breezeblocks” was released in 2012 just before the release of “An Awesome Wave” which was met with favorable reviews. 2012 saw the band grow more and more into itself as they supported the Wild Beasts on tour and played a minor headlining throughout the United Kingdom.  They also did a tour across the U.S. in December of that year and played at numerous festivals in Europe and Australia.

Now on tour promoting their new 2017 album “Relaxer” Alt-J is mightier than ever while still maintaining their identity as a group constantly looking to blend and change genres and create ground breaking music.  As the third studio release from the group, Alt-J is now looking at a world tour, their largest to date, that spans multiple countries and time zones across Europe and many of our hometown states here in the U.S. On Wednesday August, 9 2017 they will break into the Shrine Auditorium a show of inexplicable sound blending and vocal healing.  Time seems to on the side of Alt-J because just like a fine wine, they seem to be getting better and better.  Though I wouldn’t exactly relate their musical style to a fine wine, their more a spicy whisky served neat.
