Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic @ Austin360 Amphitheater 7/4

Born in Abbott, Texas, the college dropout, Willie Nelson, decided to work on his music career in 1956. Nelson got involved in music at a very young age after getting his first guitar when he just was six; he began playing with other local bands, singing in the local church and dancehalls. After moving around to different cities in Texas and other states, he finally settled down in the live music capitol of the world in the ‘70s. With Nelson being a Texas country music icon, he has accumulated a numerous number of awards over the years. Some of the awards being for his singles, albums, favorite male artist, living legend and entertainer of the year. At the age of 83, Nelson is still living out his legend.

In 1973, Nelson held his first 4th of July picnic that took place at a ranch in Dripping Springs. The event was such a big attraction, that it began to be an annual festival. The festival had skipped a few years throughout the span of 44 years since it began. The picnic has been held in different cities around Texas and in four other states. Over the years, Jimmy Buffet, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, along with many others, have made performances at Willie’s picnic. With some of his biggest hits being “Whiskey River,” “On the Road Again,” “Always on My Mind” and “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain,” Willie’s 4th of July Picnic is one fans won’t want to miss.
