A very interesting development has surfaced in the world of M83 as Anthony Gonzalez has been chosen to compose and serve as the musical director for the new VOLTA edition of Cirque du Soleil. For those looking to understand what this production is all about there is a short Youtube video below that will explain.

In addition to the news of Gonzalez’s cooporation there has also been a clip released via Youtube from earlier this month. The 3-minute video highlights all of the main attractions from its original 24-minure recording. The longer version has been taken down. In the highlight video you can still see the amazing acrobatics, BMX tricks and get a look at the astonishing costumes. The video also does a good job of giving you a sample of the music and stage effects that will be featured in the show. Watch the highlight bideo below. According to Pitchfork, a Youtube comment from the official Cirque du Soleil account said that an official soundtrack from the show is in the works.

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
