Brother Ali @ The El Rey Theatre 5/16

One of the most honest and pure lyricists is back from a five year hiatus and it couldn’t come at a better time.  Rapper Brother Ali has long been known for his in-your-face and self reflecting rhymes encouraging listeners to take pride in who they are and embrace their own uniqueness.  With his latest single and video release “Own Light” Brother Ali drops a location pin on his heart and invites everyone to follow the way to love and to shine their own light as he raps in his off-singing manner “You aint gotta get me lit I got my own light”.  A knock at the popular and magnetic party scene that is so prevalent throughout the rap scene? Hardly.  This is merely a call for us all to wake up and emanate the glowing light that burns inside all of us.

His new album “All The Beauty In This Whole Life” is set for a May 5, 2017 release date and seems as though not only has our Brother not skipped a beat but has come back stronger than ever surrounding himself in nothing but positivity and love in the form poetic preaching.  With more masterful production from long time friend and co-Rhymesayer label mate, Ant, Brother Ali’s shows are more of a sermon than a rap concert.  His soothingly commanding voice captivates audiences in a hypnotic like fashion as he preaches sole purpose and honest opinion.  There is no thought, only second nature as we can all connect and relate to the teachings of this radical emcee.

Come Tuesday May, 16 2017, Brother Ali will be taking center stage with his microphone and pro-humanity attitude to the El Rey theatre.  This isn’t so much of a religious experience as it is an awakening and uplifting gathering, with vocal leadings by the albino born, black family raised, member of the human race and all around beaming emcee, Brother Ali.
