Bastille @ The Novo 4/19

What started as a man on a mission became a band with ambition.  In 2010 British vocalist Dan Smith ben writing and recording songs on his own then eventually expanded taking on keyboardist Kyle Simmons, bassist Will Farquarson, and drummer Chris Wood making up one of today’s hottest indiepop acts in the world, Bastille.  The name comes as no coincidence.  “Bastille Day” is celebrated on July 14th which is also Dan Smith’s birthday.

The band’s first studio album “Bad Blood” was released in March of 2013 under Virgin Records and landed at the top of the UK Albums Chart.  Bastille then went on to win the British Breakthrough Act in 2014 as well as being nominated in four other categories. 2016 saw the release of “Wild World”, the band’s second effort.  It was met with positive reviews and 4/5 stars from the guardian. NME named Wild World its Album Of The Year.  Though the album saw slightly less success than its predecessor it solidified Bastille as one of the top bands in the world, especially in the indiepop/electropop realms.

On Wednesday April, 19 2017 Bastille will take center stage at the Novo in DTLA.  With them they will bring their high energy and moving music that creates an endless sea of sonic serenity.  But don’t be fooled, they are known for blowing the roof off and the crowd is there for ride right there beside them.  Buckle up, the power and adrenaline of Bastille can only be matched by that of a rollercoaster.
