Aaron Turner and William Fowler Collins Announce New Project Thalassa and Release New Song “Pitted Aegis”

Aaron Turner seems to of had his hands in almost everything. The New Mexico label head and music artist has contributed and helped to propel many of a bands into the post-metal spotlight. Turner’s former role in groups such as Isis and Old Man Gloom illuminate eery, unsettling genius that mirrors much of the artist’s Santa Fe, desert landscape.

And now, Turner teams up with his longtime friend; the New Mexico transplant, New England native William Fowler Collins who produces some truly emphatic modes of sound himself, has found a viable counterpart in Turner. The two “dark knights” form the new group Thalassa, and according to The Prp plan to release their debut efforts Bonds of Prosperity on May 19th, with help from Sige Records.

Thalassa’s first single, and first glimpse into what’s to come, comes via “Pitted Aegis”. The comprehensive track alludes to darker tangents hidden within the subconscious; here safely hidden bouts of insecurities and informalities are forced to surface in the magical, and unconventional composition erected through Thalassa’s efforts. The new single, while perhaps not for the faint of heart, offers those who dare enter an unforgettable journey into the dark side, and out again. It’s way better than a juice cleanse.
