Modern day pop trailblazer Charli XCX has just unveiled some details for her new upcoming mixtape, named Number 1 Angel. Alongside her usual self, Charli has pulled in features from some impressive artists such as MØ, RAYE and Uffie. Number 1 Angel will be released on March 10th across all streaming services.
The 10 track mixtape were recorded over the past month at XCX’s LA residence and in the UK, alongside A.G. Cook, with further production from SOPHIE, Easy FX (A.G. Cook + EASYFUN), John Hill, Life Sim and Danny L Harle. With such a long line of producers supporting the album, it is interesting to see what musical direction Charli will be heading for now.
The mixtape – named MistaJam’s Radio 1 ‘Hottest Record’ yesterday – is a direct follow up to last year’s Vroom Vroom EP and her “After the Afterparty” single last October, and is her first mixtape since 2012’s Super Love, which she released when she was only 20 years old.
To celebrate the release, the chart-topping Grammy nominated songwriter will be playing select shows across the globe. Charli XCX is also in the studio at the moment, working on her 3rd album and follow up to 2014’s Sucker, which housed the iconic “Boom Clap.”
XCX has also released three songs from the mixtape as simultaneous lead singles, “3AM (Pull Up)” featuring MØ, “Dreamer” featuring Raye and Starrah, and “Lipgloss” featuring CupcakKe. The entire album will be available on Friday, but you can listen to the singles on MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1 show here. Skip to 3:50 for “3AM (Pull Up),” 9:19 for “Dreamer,” and 16:22 for “Lipgloss.”
