DJ Shadow @ The Fonda Theatre 4/18

The man that spans almost three decades of musical life is showing no signs of taking his foot off the gas pedal.  DJ Shadow, one of the best DJ/producers we’ve seen do it has released a new album, is continuously working with the industry’s biggest hitters and is currently on tour, again, and is making a stop in LA at the Fonda Theatre on April 18th, a part of the Coachella Sideshow series.

DJ Shadow’s career began back in 1996 when he released his first full-length album “Endtroducing…” The album was met with critical acclaim and even landed him a commercial opportunity with automobile maker Chevy when the company used a snipped of his “Building Steam with a Grain of Salt” record.  His unique and diverse skill of sampling music and building upon those samples is his claim to fame, molding masterful mosaics of sound crafted from the rebirth and evolution of past records throughout time and genres.  To put his knowledge and diversity of sound in perspective, he boasts a vinyl collection of over 60,000 records. 60,000.

As of recently, DJ Shadow has released his album “The Mountain Will Fall “ which includes a track with hiphop power house Run The Jewels titled “Nobody Speak.”  From there fans have remixed many tracks and eventually remixed the entire album to “Shadow The Jewels.”  DJ Shadow is a legend and pioneer to the genre and music as a whole, creating new from old, great from bad, and forever evolving.
