Inside or outside of the music industry odds are you’ve heard of Chance The Rapper. The breakout Chicago artist first started making noise in 2013 when he released his mixtape Acid Rap. The genre blending tape featured the likes of Twista, R. Kelly and a young Kanye that felt more like an open mic night at a jazz bar as opposed to a rap album. This gained him the deserving attention as best lyricist of the year and a nomination for best mixtape of the year at the BET Music awards.
Fast forward to 2017. Chance has now increased his value and has built his own brand with with co-signs, but remians independent, from the industries biggest players and artists. This year at the Grammy’s he was nominated in five categories and walked away with three wins including best new artist, best rap performance and best rap album. However, Chance doesn’t stop there. As an actor he has appeared in the short films and lent his voice as Bob Marley for the television show Black Dynamite.
A few days following his wins at the Grammy’s, Chance The Rapper released the schedule detailing his upcoming Spring 2017 tour starting April 24th with it coming to end on October, 3rd AND 4th, right here in our backyard at the Hollywood Bowl. There couldn’t be a better venue fit for Chance’s music and performance that is soaked in soul, acid jazz, funk, and of course hiphop.
