Barns Courtney @ The El Rey Theatre 5/9

Barns Courtney’s story is one of inspiration, truth, and the pursuit of one’s inner happiness and determination to succeed in the calling of the wild, that ever-present burning desire to be the person you are destined to be.  His music wholly reflects this emotion with his soulful raspiness of a voice and folk/country/rock swagger that’s as emotionally moving as it is painfully true.

His early career was a rollercoaster of small success and greater falls.  At age 15 he led the British indie band “SleeperCell” and eventually became the frontman for the indie/punk band Dive Bella Dive who eventually signed to Island Records but was soon dropped from the label after recording an album’s worth of content.  This did not stifle Barns, however.  In 2015 he released his first solo record “Glitter & Gold” which was met with critical acclaim and reached #1 on the UK Spotify Viral chart and #2 on the iTunes Alternative Chart.  His single “Fire” was also selected for the film “Burnt”  Since then, Barns has gone on to open for acts such as Ed Sheeran, Fitz and The Tantrums and Blur, just to name a few.

On May 8, Barns Courtney will bring his fire and gold to Los Angeles for what is sure to be an electric show of grand feeling and powerful music.  He will be at the El Rey Theatre promoting his recent solo EP “The Dull Drums”.
