Vince Staples is on a pretty fast moving train to the top, and his latest efforts guarantee his imminent rise. That is if they haven’t already solidified his position amongst the legends already. The Southern California native came to the forefront of the hip-hop scene in 2014, and since then has put out three noteworthy and critically acclaimed EPs.
And…he…is…back…again…
Staples reigns in 2017 with an unexpected? gift to fans of his music (or maybe he’s just highly prolific) via the new track “Bagbak”.
According to sources at Paste Magazine, “He’s just running up the score. That sort of three-year stretch almost dictates that you don’t have to do anything for a bit. Staples could just go on tour with what he has and that’d be more than enough. Not only did he clock some overtime with the new single, he crafted the type of track we’ve never heard from him before. Hell, good chunks of hip-hop don’t approximate the gangsta dubstep that Staples goes for on ‘BagBak’.”
Perhaps “gangsta dubstep” stands to be the latest hybrid in the ever changing musical climate, and this ultimate crossbreeding of sonic stylings marks the artist in question as not just the hypothetical genre’s poster boy, but also the man himself as an innovator within th industry.
