Kate Tempest unveiled her new music video today for her song “Europe is Lost”, off her most recent album Let Them Eat Chaos. According to Independent, the music video was produced by a fan named Manuel Braun, and provides a very aggressive look into the recent world events that have been occurring,
The music video features hundreds of clips taken from live TV footage, using the coverage from events like the recent US election, Isis footage, KKK, Trump, beauty pageants to famous apocalyptic film scenes, all of it is used to convey the message Tempest is attempting to deliver in the video.
With strong lyrics like “The Anarchists are desperate for something to smash/Scandalous pictures of fashionable rappers in glamorous magazines/who’s dating who?/politico cash in an envelope/caught sniffing lines/off a prostitutes prosthetic tits,/and it’s back to the house of lords with slapped wrists./they abduct kids/and fuck the heads of dead pigs/but him in the hoodie with a couple of spliffs –/jail him, he’s the criminal.” it seems apropos that the video would be just as strong.
In her interview with the magazine she stated her disdain for the era we are living in, commenting “we are living in absolute f**king madness”. she continues “It’s too late now. It’s gone beyond somebody being right and somebody being wrong, It’s far too late. We’re in the middle of a massive humanitarian crisis.”
Her fears and worries motivate and inspire her to create strong lyrical tracks that can make anyone think twice about the world around them.
