It has been nearly six years since Pacific Northwest alternative folk heroes Fleet Foxes last performed here in the United States. After concluding their US tour in Austin, TX during the month of October, the band performed in Europe and Asia. Since then, it’s been crickets, the exception being a leading Instagram post or song release from frontman Robin Pecknold. That all changes in July when the band headlines at the legendary Newport Folk Festival.

The only band announced for the historic music festival in Rhode Island, this is not the first announced live appearance for the band. They also have scheduled dates at few European festivals like Vida Festival and Bilbao BBK, both in Spain.

In addition to the excitement of a full world tour for Fleet Foxes, there is the promise of a new album. The band’s last release was the critically-acclaimed Helplessness Blues, which was the band’s sophomore release. Critically acclaimed, it would lead to several years of silence from the band (though drummer J. Tillman made a career out of his lauded Father John Misty project in the following years.) The album is apparently going to be called Ylajali. No word yet on any correlation, but the name corresponds to a character from the Knut Hamsun novel Hunger by the Norwegian author.
