According to The PRP, Bay Area rock ‘n roll maniacs Primus will be hitting the road for a spring tour. The band, which consists of vocalist and bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry LaLonde and drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander, will get things started in Santiago, Chile for three straight nights in March. Then they will head to Boulder, CO on May 15, with the last announced United States date taking place in late May at the Summer Camp Music Festival in Chillicothe, IL. After touring the Midwest, the band will jump across the Atlantic for a series of festival and club appearances.

On the second date of the band’s tour, at the famed Red Rocks venue near Morrison, CO, the band will perform with Claypool’s latest side project, The Claypool Lennon Delirium. As the name would suggest, Claypool’s bandmate in this psych-rock outfit is none other than Sean Lennon. The pair released their debut as The Claypool Lennon Delirium back in the early summertime, the well-received Monolith of Phobos.

Just because Claypool was recording, releasing an album and touring with his newest collaborator did not mean Primus lay dormant. The band performed as one of the headliners at Desert Daze in Joshua Tree at the end of the summer, as well as performing at benefit for the Ghost Ship tragedy that occurred in Northern California, the region from which the band hails.

Over the summer Alexander suffered heart attack, the second such occurrence for the musician – his first heart attack happened in 2014. It came as a major shock to the on-again-off-again member of the band, as he had a triple bypass surgery between the two cardiac events. Here’s to hoping Alexander can make it out for this string of shows!
