Goldfrapp (consisting of Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory) have announced they will release their first album in four years since 2013’s Tales Of Us. The new album titled Silver Eye was produced with John Congleton in Dallas and the Haxan Cloak in London and will be dropping on March 31st through Mute. You can preorder the new album here.
The stunning album cover as will as the rest of the visuals for the album have been shot by Alison Goldrapp at Fuerteventura, a volcanic island in the Canary Islands. She set up an amazing group of photos with twins who she spotted on the street in London in hopes of combining them with stunning visuals of the island (black sands, stark cliffs, rolling dunes and blazing blue skies) in a juxtaposition that is her her words “as arresting as they are idiosyncratic”.
“We’ve never liked repeating ourselves. Often we react to things we’ve just done. We like the spontaneity of not knowing. It’s only through the process that we start to figure out what it is. The fans who have stuck with us are the ones who embrace that idea and are excited by the thought that they don’t know quite what to expect next.” – Alison Goldfrapp
“I think writing an album is like being lost in a wood. You’re trying to figure out an interesting path. You don’t know whether it’s going to be a dead end or somewhere interesting and you never know when to stop because around the corner some beautiful vista might open up.” – Will Gregory
Goldfrapp have also shared a new track from the LP, “Anymore,” which you can hear above. They will also be playing a special showcase event in support of their new album at London’s Roundhouse on March 27th. Tickets for the show go on pre-sale Wednesday, January 25th and on general sale Friday, January 27th. Fans who sign up to the mailing list at getting early access.
