There is less than a month left until the 2017 Grammys commence at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, and the first round of performers were just announced by the Recording Academy on Twitter.
A variety of performers from various genres will be joining the James Corden-hosted event. Alongside Corden, metal legends Metallica, RnB singer-songwriter John Legend, and country powerhouses Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood will be performing on the February 12 event.
Legend has so far won 10 Grammy awards throughout his career, most recently just last year in Best Song Written for visual media category for his song “Glory” which was recorded for the film “Selma.” Earlier on in his career, Legend had won Best New Artist and R&B Album of the Year in 2006 for Get Lifted.
Metallica has been a longtime Grammy favorite, ever since the band was first nominated for Best Metal Performance with “One” in 1990. Afterwards, they have been nominated almost anytime the band released anything. Metallica is in the running for Best Rock Song this year with “Hardwired.”
Underwood had also won Best New Artist the following year in 2007, and has gone on to win six more Grammys since then. This year she has been nominated for Best Country Solo Performance with “Church Bells.” Urban is up for two different awards this year, including Best Country Solo Performance for “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and Best Country Album for Ripcord.

Underwood won best new artist the following year in 2007, and has gone on to win seven total since then. This year she is nominated in the best country solo performance category for “Church Bells.” Urban is up for two awards this year — best country solo performance for “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and best country album for “Ripcord.”
More performers will be unveiled as the days count down. Beyoncé leads this year’s field of Grammy hopefuls with nine nominations, with Drake, Rihanna and Kanye West each garnering eight nods.
