Ani DiFranco has finally answered by announcing her new upcoming album Binary expected to be released Spring 2017 via Righteous Babe Records. She is known for using her voice to incite social change around the world. When DiFranco performed at the 30A Songwriters Festival in Florida, she performed her poem “Binary” which ended up becoming the title track to her upcoming album. Through her poem she reveals the overlooked concept that “consciousness is binary.”
DiFranco also just released new track,”Deferred Gratification” as the singer-songwriter reflects and pays tribute to President Obama. The single is accompanied with a video of her playing the guitar followed by images of women caring for children all through the different generations. Closing the video, video footage of President Obama’s eulogy for the funeral of Rev. Clementa C. Pinckney. DiFranco “dedicates the video to all those who spend their lives in service of others.”
