The New Pornographers Announces Spring 2017 Tour Dates

Vancouver-based group The New Pornographers have announced a U.S. tour kicking off in Minneapolis on April 18th in support of their forthcoming seventh full-length record. While details of The New Pornographers’ seventh studio album have yet to be released, the band will be debuting new tracks on tour. In addition to a New Pornographers album guitarist Todd Fancey is set to release his third solo album, Love Mirage on Jan. 27th.

The opening act for all fifteen shows is Waxahatchee; an American indie music project that was formed in 2010 by the singer-songwriter Katie Crutchfield. Crutchfield has said that the opening sets will be “special Waxahatchee ‘duo’ shows,”. Waxahatchee previously toured in the U.K in support of Tegan And Sara and released the album Ivy Tripp in 2015 after signing to Merge Records.

The New Pornographers made their debut in 2000 and have released six studio albums; Mass Romantic (2000), Electric Version (2003), Twin Cinema (2005), Challengers (2007), Together (2010), and Brill Bruisers (2014). From 2000 to 2006, either a New Pornographers’ album or a solo album from one of the band’s members has ranked in the top 40 on the Village Voice’s Pazz & Jop year-end poll of hundreds of music reviewers. In 2009, Rolling Stone magazine ranked the band’s second studio album, Electric Version, No. 79 in the “100 Best Albums of the Decade”.
