Grandaddy are back again, in lieu of their upcoming March 3rd record-release, with the fourth single “Evermore”. Evermore, like previous tracks “Way We Won’t”, “Clear Your History”, and “A Lost Machine” are all asumed singles from Last Place, the indie band’s first studio album in over a decade.
Grandaddy’s highly anticipated Last Place comes to fans via Danger Mouse record label 30th Century Records. Under The Radar Mag adds, “Now the band has shared another song from the album, “Evermore,” via a visual that features a commercial jetliner dumping trash on a snow-capped mountain valley.”
The new track is reminiscent of Ben Gibbard and his array of music projects, including Death Cab For Cutie. However, Grandaddy ring leader Jason Lytle, evokes varying ones of nostalgia: all of which are deeply-rooted in the grunge rock, alternative indie early days of the late 1980’s and sequential 1990’s.
Lytle via NPR shares with fans of Evermore, “I have no idea what the song is about. But I really like the imagery of sad dirty trees that live by the freeway and throwing stuff out of commercial airliners. Also the line ”When remembering is what forgetting’s for.’ It’s kinda high-school-corny poetry, but I still like it a lot.”
