Harm’s Way @ Sidewinder 2/14

Metalcore outfit Harm’s Way are from the windy city of Chicago, Illinois, and formed in 2006. Although, the group started out–like may bands–as a “not so serious” side project, playing fast powerviolence songs for fun. Since then, the group has been much more serious, and has released three full-length albums and a handful of EP’s.

Members of the punk band, Few and the Proud, took a break from their main band to start a fun side-project just for the fun of it. Influenced by bands like Infest and Crossed Out, they started off playing ultrafast, 30-second long powerviolence songs, not aware that their little side-project would turn into a full-fledged band. Of course, as the group began to mature, so did the music of Harm’s Way. Since then, their music has moved in a direction more attuned to metalcore, with some slight industrial influence. This change was partly due to their 2013 signing to Deathwish Inc., who released Harm’s Way’s popular EP, Blinded, and their 2015 full-length, Rust. As for what’s next for Harm’s way, you can be sure to expect more changes in the future.

A Harm’s Way show might not be the best place to take your Valentine’s Day date, but it will definitely make for a great story. Check out Harm’s Way at the Sidewinder on February 24th.
