Chairlift Announces Spring 2017 Farewell Tour Dates

Back in December Chairlift announce via their twitter synthpop duo Chairlift they would be calling it quits and that Caroline Polachek would be pursuing a solo career while Patrick Wimberly begins working more exclusively as a producer. Under the name Chairlift Polachek and Wimberly have put out three studio albums including 2008’s Does You Inspire You, 2012’s Something and 2016’s Moth. Their work together as Chairlift will be missed, but even as a duo they have always had some amazing side projects and things look up for fans of the group as the pair split aces & eights to focus on their individual careers. Dum Dum Girls lead singer Kristin Kontrol will be hitting the road in support of Chairlift for the duo’s farewell tour.

Polachek previously released an 11-song LP titled Arcadia via Terrible Records using the pseudonym Ramona Lisa in 2014. The LP was made entirely on a laptop with all vocals recorded with the internal microphone and all instrumentation was composed using MIDI software. Arcadia was made during a year of touring with Chairlift in a studio set up for Polachek in a villa in Rome that later was discovered to have a 500-year-old human skeleton under the stone floor.

As for Wimberly he already has a string of producer credit’s to his name including Kelela & Tink’s collaborative song “Want It”, Beyonce’s “No Angel”, several songs by Solange Knowles and he is also credited with mixing Tune-Yards’ latest album Nikki Nack in May 2014. He also played the drums alongside Solange on Jimmy Fallon in 2012 for her song “Losing You”.

However, before they split for good (or hopefully just for now) Chairlift will be performing a final string of shows and the dates for their farewell tour have recently been announced. Tickets for the seven shows go on sale this Friday.
