Just last fall in November, the xx first teased out information about a then-unknown European tour by sending out letters to fans that revealed the date and location of a show nearest to their address, and informing them that they had received free tickets, courtesy of the xx.
Now the English trio is back at it with the same trick, announcing North American tour with a similar method. Only one day after the band was announced to play Coachella this year, several of the bands’ fans started tweeting about getting tickets in the mail. Apparently, the tickets were provided to those who had preordered the group’s forthcoming 3rd LP, I See You. the message was contained within the sleeve of a free 7″ single of “On Hold,” the first track of many upcoming cuts from the album.
I See You will be out in stores January 13th via Young Turks, but in the meantime fans can either get back into the xx with “On Hold” or the other recently released single “Say Something Loving.”
So far, 3 locations for shows have been revealed, including Texas, Pennsylvania, and Maine.
