The Pinkpop Festival, The Netherlands’ beloved annual music festival, has announced their lineup for 2017.
So far, rock heavyweights Green Day, System of a Down and Kings of Leon will all be making an appearance, with Martin Garrix and The Ten Bells also joining in the fray for the 2017 iteration.
The festival, held in Landgraaf, Netherlands, has been providing a variety of performances to festival goers all the way back to 1970, where it was originally located at Burgemeester Damen Sportpark in the town of Geleen, making it the oldest and longest running annual pop/rock music festival in the world-an impressive feat given the numerous European festivals both established and emerging.
Over its four-decade life, Pinkpop has hosted notable acts such as Paul McCartney, Rage Against the Machine, The Rolling Stones, U2 and Bruce Springsteen as well as festival veterans Green Day and sold out six years in a row from 2006 to 2011.
Recently, Green Day (who will also headline the Mad Cool Festival in 2017 along with Kings of Leon) aired their grievances with concert goers who used their cell phones during concerts-so festival goers beware! Other festival headliner System of a Down were recently announced as part of the Bravalla 2017 festival, and are also currently working on an upcoming album…probably.
Pinkpop’s official website promises more to follow, but for now stay tuned as more artists are confirmed.
