Finland’s finest festival, the Flow Festival, held annually in Helsinki, has announced their lineup for the 2017 iteration, and it does not disappoint.
The festival was first started by Finnish producer Tuomas Kallio back in 2004 as a way to offer a fresh perspective to the urban music scene in Finland, attempting to present artists, both established and emerging, from a variety of genres.
What started as a small club event has steadily grown over its plus-decade run into one of the larger European music and arts festivals that is continuing to grow and draw larger and more exciting artists, including The Roots, Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Bon Iver, Lykke Li, Alicia Keys, and Iggy Pop just to name a few. The festival itself is located at a now defunct Suvilhati power plant and the industrial surroundings in downtown Helsinki.
This year’s lineup proves to be equally exciting, with a diverse mix of artists from all over the world across a myriad of genres. From the United States, Lana Del Rey, Angel Olsen, Vince Staples and Maceo Plex are all scheduled to make an appearance. U.K. acts The xx, Aphex Twin, London Grammar, Jon Hopkins and Bicep are all slated on the lineup, as well as Australian electronic producer Flume.
The festival also includes local Finnish acts Alma, MC Taakibörsta, Femme En Fourrure and Kauriinmetsästäjät as well as Norwegian artist Jenny Hval to round out the lineup.
The xx recently released a slew of videos in anticipation of their upcoming album due out at the turn of 2017. Similarly, Aphex Twin dropped a new song just two days ago. Jenny Hval has also been busy this year with the release of her Blood Bitch album, where you can check out our review of here.

Flow Festival added a few new names to the lineup and man, it does not disappoint. Frank Ocean, Ryan Adams, Moderat, Sparks, Sampha and the musical prodigy (fight me) Young Thug will all be joining the festivities. Check the updated lineup below.
