Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Announces 2017 Inductees

Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame just announced their 2017 inductees. Over three decades ago, Ahmet Ertegun founded the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. In his mission, he decided he wanted to recognize the influential figures that have had a major influence on the development of Rock N’ Roll. Influential figures can be categorized as the best known and most influential artists, producers, engineers and other eminent figures.

To be nominated for the position of an inductee, it must be 25 years after an artist has released their first album or single. This is the first year any artists who began their careers in the nineties are joining the institution—Tupac Shakur and Pearl Jam. Earlier this year, Pearl Jam was unavailable for a comment for the press at the time of nomination but in May the guitarist Mike McCready broke the silence when chatting with Rolling Stone about the possibility of getting inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. He explained, “It would be a great honor, I would be happy about it. But you never know. I don’t know their process and how they pick. It could be a couple of years from now. I mean, Cheap Trick took forever to get in. So did Deep Purple. But we’re aware of it. “

While Pearl Jam remained modest about the entire situation, other artists took it differently. For instance, the guitarists Steve Howe of Yes explained that it was a bit like a waiting period to become a Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee. “It’s a bit like waiting for a train, maybe it’s on time and you just noticed waiting. I don’t regret the wait. I just feel this must be the right time.” While band members from Journey reacted as if their time was already over. Although excited about the induction they explained, “I kind of feel like we were already in with our fans and the amount of records we’ve sold all over the world.” Check below for the full list of 2017 inductees.
