Last night at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom; Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme took part in a benefit concert for Afghan Whigs guitarist Dave Rosser who was recently diagnosed with inoperable colon cancer. Alongside Homme were performances by Eagles of Death Metal, The Gutter Twins and Duff McKagan. Homme’s played an acoustic set and treated the audience unreleased QOFTSA song called “Villains of Circumstance”. As Homme announced the song title the audience cheered loud leading Homme to remark “It’s not that fucking new, obviously.” The crowd reaction shouldn’t come as a surprise because even though the song has never been previously released through any of Homme’s many projects; it has remained a fan favorite after a live bootleg copy of the song was released from 2014 recorded during the Meltdown Festival.

In addition to “Villains of Circumstance” Homme’s also played “Long Slow Goodbye” and “Spinning in the Daffodils” from Them Crooked Vultures. Also included in the acoustic set were a couple of covers including; Johnny Cash’s “Dark as a Dungeon” and Cab Callaway’s “Minnie the Moocher” which was first recorded in 1931.

There will be another sold-out benefit show tonight in Los Angeles (December 14th) at Teragram that will feature Afghan Whigs playing their 1996 album Black Love in its entirety. Tonight’s show will also feature Mark Lanegan, Moby and Carina Round on the bill as well. You can also help Rosser with his medical bills by donating directly to his GoFundMe. Thus far they have managed to exceed the original goal of their $50k goal by over $10k.
