In the entertainment business, there have been a number of moments this and last year. One of them came from an unlikely place, Broadway. The Hamilton musical drew interest from many because of its use of hip-hop to discuss the history of this country. They took home 11 Tony Awards and fans have been anticipating a Hamilton mixtape, this reported by BLOGS. THECURRENT.ORG. Most recently, during a show, newly elected Vice-president elect Mike Pence attended a showing and chose to stop the show to address Mike Pence. This was one of the many reactions that people had when the presidential election ended.
When the tracklist was released, fans of the play were excited because of the numerous features on the mixtape. Chance The Rapper, Ashanti, and Minnesota’s own Dessa. The mixtape is out now and Dessa’s contribution can be heard on the song “Congratulations”.
Big thanks to @andywho and @_LAZERBEAK_ for helping pulling off the #HamiltonMixtape track. Few basements I'd rather record in.

The short 2-minute song begins with a beautiful piano and as Dessa begins to rap the Hamilton influence can be heard through her choice of rapping in a way that feels like she is speaking with whoever is listening.
This is a big moment in the career of Dessa and she has not been shy about showing how appreciative she is when it comes to the opportunity. In her twitter bio she wrote, “I have a song on the Hamilton mixtape and that makes the Puerto Rican side of my family excessively happy.”
This year, Dessa has been active through releasing a new song “Quinine” in August.
