The xx have shared a new video for previously released track “On Hold”, which is set to feature on upcoming album I See You. The Alasdair McLellan directed video depicts adolescent culture in Marfa, Texas, where the band recorded portions of the album.
The band said via press release that Marfa, Texas is “a very special place to us, where we wrote and recorded some of our new album.” In reference to McLellan, they said he is someone “whose work we all adore.”
In the new video, Jamie xx performs at a house party, while Romy, Madley Croft, and Oliver Sim sing into various phones. Traditional small town, high school imagery including muscle cars, football players and cheerleaders populate the scenery.
The band performed “On Hold” and debuted a new song, entitled “I Dare You”, on the most recent episode of “SNL.” Tonight, the xx begin the first leg of their European tour in Zagreb, Crotia.
The xx’s last album, 2012’s Coexist, received broad acclaim. They’ve released two LP’s in total, and are set to release third album I See You on January 13, 2016.
