This year has been a great one for ANTHRAX, in February they released their eleventh studio album “For All Kings”(Megaforce), two different music videos with director Jack Bennett for “Blood Eagle Wings” and “Monster At The End”. They also had a performance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” that was paired with an interview by Seth Meyers with Robert De Niro. Along with sharing stages with acts like Iron Maiden, Slipknot, Lamb of God, and Avenged Sevenfold.
According to BLABBERMOUTH, in support of record store day, which happens to land on black Friday, ANTHRAX will release a seven-inch single pressed onto lilac and gold spatter vinyl for the songs “Monster At The End” and “Vice Of The People”. Previously, these songs were only released in Japan and this is the first time they are being released in North America.
Also, an acoustic version of the band’s song “Breathing Lightning” has just been sent to radio for fans to hear. The song was performed and recorded at an in-studio session at El Paso’s rock station KLAQ-FM on October 27th, which was the final date of ANTHRAX’s north America tour with SLAYER.
Many artists choose to use music as their way of starting a conversation about a topic on their mind. In their song, “Monster at the End” ANTHRAX can be heard possibly indirectly referring to a nation that has chosen Donald Trump as their next president. “Your golden halo is burned and melted. Crown the monster at the end”. ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante spoke with metalholic earlier this year on politics.
“There is a very scary vibe going on in our country and I’m almost afraid to even talk about it because of the division that there is,” he said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen. I don’t know, if, say, a Donald Trump does become president of our country, I don’t know what will happen. I don’t know how it’s going to be perceived globally.”
ANTHRAX can be seen next month co-headlining Epiphone Revolver Music Awards on Tuesday, December 13th. Benante stated, “ANTHRAX looks forward to blowing the roof off of the Revolver Awards and making metal GREAT again.”
