The Oh Hello’s @ Emo’s 12/6

Texas natives Maggie and Tyler Heath are a musical sibling duo that formed the indie folk band The Oh Hello’s back in 2011. Fascinated by the process of making music together, the Heath siblings turned a onetime collaboration – a song they had wrote for their mother – into a full-fledged band, boasting a backing band of eight members, and completing the 10- piece folk assemble we know today.

The 2012 album Through the Deep Dark Valley, was the bands feature full length, following their eponymous debut EP, which was self-released the year prior. The duo has continued to stay cautious about entering the music industry, describing the business side of things as “machine” like. Although, the Heaths eventually realized that many of those “business” people were just as excited about their music as they were.

Despite that, the band has stoically chosen to remain an independent band in the face of major label interest. Dear Wormwood – the latest record from The Oh Hello’s – found inspiration in literary fantasy novels, particularly the works of Patrick Rothfuss. In Rothfuss’ popular Kingkiller Chronicles series, his passionate description of music was so eloquent, the duo felt compelled to improve as musicians and lyricists, and Dear Wormwood showcases that growth.

The Oh Hello’s don’t have to travel far from their home in San Marcos to perform Austin for their Christmas Extravaganza; you can see the assemble live at Emo’s next month on the 6th.
