Blabbermouth reports that Devin Townsend Project, the group led by Devin Townsend, who most recently performed at NOVO, has just released the newest music video to “Stormbending“, off the band’s most recent album Transcendence, which hit the public September 9th.
The video opens up in what looks like a post-apocalyptic universe, with spectacular computer generated scenes, and seems to have been shot entirely in front of a green screen. Each band member is standing in a different part of the globe, each one of them is a giant on top of the earth performing the song. As they perform, the scene gets more gray, and more chaotic, as two children sit face to face, looking at the mayhem that is about to ensue from mother earth. As the dust settles and the band ends their song, the landscape begins to become more lush and green, with less storms and more beautiful nature, while the children embrace each other as if knowing the worst is over.
When discussing the new video with Metal Injection, Townsend said ““Stormbending” was a song that meant a lot to me while writing and when asked to do a video, I really pushed for it. I think the idea of it was based around turning the tide of your own perspectives on things. It’s very easy to get caught up in the negativity and fear that kind of pervades most things lately, and finding ways to fight that away and keep a strong outlook on your own life can be challenging. It’s really easy to give in to it all as opposed to consciously working to better your situation. The video was done by a team of fantastic people in Serbia, and although it’s a challenge to be included in ones own videos, we decided to do one that was more performance based and I think it turned out really quite well. Thanks to everyone involved for making this happen and thanks to you for listening and supporting if you do”
