Kaskade and deadmau5 have released their first collaboration since 2008, when they gave us “I Remember” and “Move For Me”. This powerful new song is titled “Beneath with Me, and features the angelic vocals of Skylar Grey atop the flawless transition from eerie down-tempo to intense drop of bass-heavy EDM that Kaskade and deadmau5 are famous for.
The evocative music video opens with a scene from a horrific car accident, with Skylar Grey lying lifeless at first in the overturned vehicle, with a passenger lying several feet away where he was apparently ejected. The lyrics bring Grey to life, and she emerges from the vehicle covered in blood, and hobbles toward a blinding light that seemingly acts as a metaphor for the afterlife. In a Shyamalan-like twist, the video ends with the ejected passenger awaking suddenly and springing into action, limping to the car and pulling Grey’s body out as she comes back to consciousness.

According to a series of Twitter posts between the artists, the video release date was equally as surprising for deadmau5 as it was for fans.
Both Kaskade and deadmau5 have been keeping themselves busy with projects outside of this song and video. Deadmau5 released his latest single “Snowcone”, and made appearances at multiple festivals this year including Minus Zero at Stratton Mountain in Vermont, and Free Press Summer Festival in Houston, Texas. Kaskade released Automatic last year, and has since released several singles including “Fakin’ It” with Felix Cartal and Ofelia K, and “In Common” with Alicia Keys.
