Glenn Danzig Is Unsure A New Misfits Album Will Happen

A new narrative has begun for The Misfits. Members Jerry Only and Glenn Danzig have taken the stage together for the first time in nearly three and half decades, performing at Riot Fest in the closing weeks of summer. With this, the spark for talk of a new album has been ignited, but uncertainty looms over the members heads, especially Danzig.

Glenn Danzig is currently in production and finishing an album of Elvis songs and still in the afterglow of his 2010 album Deth Red Saboath. Yet, confronted with the task of a new Misfits album, Danzig notes that a new album would be a good amount of work for the seldom amount of time he has open at the moment. In this, he maintains that all the material for a potential album would have to be written once more and almost certainly by him. Danzig, in opinionated fashion, says that he feels that society’s condition doesn’t have the same edge it once had. Back in the ’70s he believes that there was more angst in the hearts of the public but, as he says, “I wish people would get angry and pissed” as they once were. A different context, in the outspoken member’s eyes, provides the need for different lyrics and feeling.

Even so, it cannot be said whether or not his Misfits bandmates feel similar. Jerry Only has expressed interest in doing another album. “The timing couldn’t be more perfect,” he has stated. Still, Only shares a like sentiment to Danzig and acknowledges that writing an album would take work, and work from everyone involved. Change, moving with the times, and re-energizing a band expressive of the need for something new are the elements confounding The Misfits. Because of this, fans will simply have to wait and see.
