LISTEN: The Growlers Release New Song I’ll Be Around

The Growlers, an American surf/rock band from California, has recently released a single called “I’ll Be Around” for their new album called City Club. The band has recently been signed onto the record label called Cult Records in order to produce the songs that will be contained on the album. The album will be out on September 30th.

The song is inspired by William Onyeabor’s “I’ll be Around” that was filled with afrofunk/afrogroove.  It contains a well mix of guitar and drums with a synth tune, supporting the backbone of the instrumental part of the song, creating a groovy atmosphere. The song was produced in Shawn Everett’s studio located in downtown Los Angeles.

In the words of the Matt Taylor, the band’s lead guitarist, the whole album “Less surf, more synth”. The song does demonstrate this statement, as the band continues the variety use of reggae, punk, country etc.  The song is shown below.

The band has announced a tour set for September in order to support the new album and the song that has been released.
