LISTEN: Regina Spektor Releases New Song “Black & White”

According to PureVolume, American singer-songwriter Regina Spektor has released new single entitled “Black & White”. Last heard from this artist was  a cover to the Beatles “While My Guitar Gently Weeps“, which was earlier in August,  but coming out this month will be the singer’s newest record since 2012. Remember Us to Life will be out on September 30 via Sire Records, and Spektor is slowly giving us a few tastes of her upcoming work.

“Black & White” is the third song shared of the upcoming LP, after her most recent release of “Small Bill$“,  and it is everything you’ve come to expect with this talented veteran songwriter. It is a ballad that questions love and love lost, a very tender ballad from start to finish, carried through by a very slow and soft drum beat, allowing the keys to take a shine whilst not undermining Spekto’s delicate vocals, comparing the love in her life to “black & white”. Her words continue to carry strong but passionate feelings, as the song crescendos she questions “Why should I/ Wait for tomorrow”, giving a sense that one should never wait around for love lost, because there is so much love to find out there.

Regina Spektor is a well known pianist, she began playing classical piano at age 6 while in the Soviet Union, and her roots really shine throughout the entire track. Carrying each beat with a beautiful melodic undertone, gaining strength as the song goes on, finishing in a soft note mixed in with a few keyboard sound-effects.

This new track is giving a fantastic preview to all of Regina’s upcoming work, as the new album continues to move closer towards the release date the suspense grows more and more, fans cannot wait to get their hands on this LP, and for good reason. With luck, a tour will follow the album drop so Spektor’s can be seen performed live on stage.
