According to Pitchfork, American indie-folk project Sun Kil Moon, primary recording moniker of Mark Kozelek, who has been killing it on tour with Jesu the last couple of months in order to promote they collaborative album Jesu/Sun Kil Moon, has announced that he will be releasing a brand new studio album next year. Common As Light And Love Are Red Valleys Of Blood will be a double CD Kozelek will be releasing via Kozelek’s Caldo Verde Records label, and is scheduled to be released on February 28th, 2017.
Sun Kil Moon made the announcement on via the Sun Kil Moon website, and accompanied the news with a brand new song called “God Bless Ohio“. The song is a mellow beat of snare in the background as the guitar riffs and Kozelek’s vocals carrying the emotional song.
This proper solo follow-up album to last year’s Universal Themes will finally showcase the artist’s musical talent without any collaborative assistance. Once this tour with Jesu ends, Sun Kil Moon will most likely head straight back to the studio and complete the new LP, hopefully it will be closely followed by a solo tour in order to promote the new work.
