According to NME, Thom Sonny Green , drummer of popular British group Alt-J, has announced that, after much work, he will be releasing his debut solo album High Anxiety on August 19th via his personal record label Sudden, an imprint of infectious.
The album features a 21-song compilation of the work the drummer has been doing with electronic music. A statement was provided as to what inspired Green when creating this album, “A long-abiding interest in cerebral, idiosyncratic electronica on an album that is warm, yet experimental; playful yet considered; superficially accessible yet simultaneously deep, with Green demonstrating his complete artistry as songwriter, producer and visual artist.”
Each song in the LP is attached with a music video created by Green, who worked with visual artist Nichola Farnan making this series over the two year Alt-J tour for their second album This Is All Yours.
Green plans on making his solo debut at Latitude Music Festival, where Alt-J performed in 2015, however, as of now there are no other shows scheduled for Green, and neither does Alt-J due to their current work on their third studio Album.
In order to help fans understand what he has been planning, Green released a video for his first track off the album “Vienna”. Giving us a real visual and musical experience to enhance our excitement for the newest work.
The new work showcases a more sparse, minimal. spacey tones that we are not used to from the normal Alt-J material, which is what probably Green is aiming to do with his new music.
