Kristin Welchez, front woman for Dum Dum Girls, known as Dee Dee, announced in February that she will be working on a solo project known as Kristin Kontrol.
Starting in June, this solo project will begin headlining tour on the East Coast. Along with the headlining tour, she will be supporting Garage with their US tour throughout August. Her solo album named X-Communicate, is not the first solo project she has pursued.
In 2008 and 2011, she released two albums with Grand Ole Party, and released two albums, Humanimals and Under Our Skin. In 2014, she released the album,Initiation, with husband Brandon and the band Haunted Hearts. The last album Welchez released with Dum Dum Girls was in 2014 titled Too True.
The album X-Communicate, was produced by Kurt Feldmen and Andrew Miller. Richard Gottehrer, producer for Dum Dum Girls, had some input on the album. X-Communicate is scheduled to be released Friday May 27th on Sub Pop records, and is also available for pre-order in “limited blue-vinyl Loser Edition.” Sub Pop record label is an independent label based in Seattle Washington. “With early releases by Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden, and TAD, the label is often associated with something called “the grunge movement.”’
