The music video for Iggy Pop’s latest single, “Sunday,” has just been released.
“Sunday,” comes off of Iggy Pop’s most recent album, Post Pop Depression, his collaboration with Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme.
The music video balances between large aerial shots of different locations, and gritty, zoomed in shots. It opens up with Iggy Pop meandering through his house and subsequently doing some form of yoga in his lawn. This is then interwoven with images of Josh Homme, and Iggy Pop as well, in other locations including Rancho De La Luna, where the album was recorded.
As the video progresses, the viewer gets a gritty glimpse of the polarities of life, from a lively and green setting in Florida, to the dry and barren landscape of the desert. By the end, the entire band are seen performing on stage with bright and warm yellow lights shining throughout.
The just over six-minute video concludes with another aerial shot, transitions to a night skyline of Los Angeles, and finishes off with a low shot of a dirty floor as used cups are carefully passed by.
The music video was directed by Andreas Neumann, who did the photography for the promos for Post Pop Depression. Take a look a the full music video below.
Iggy Pop was born in Michigan in 1947 and is noted for being an important part of music and rock history. He is well known for being the frontman of the proto-punk band, The Stooges, who were active initially from 1967 to 1974 and reunited in 2003. In addition, he has also become a successful musician in his own right as a solo artist.
As a solo artist, Iggy Pop has an expansive list of studio album with a whopping seventeen in total. His most recent release, Post Pop Depression, was released early this year and is a collaboration with Josh Homme, and in addition, Queen’s of the Stone Age’s Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.
