Swedish heavy metal band Ghost recently performed a live acoustic version of their song “Jigolo Har Megiddo” (from Infestissumam) during stopover of their tour at The Q 95.5 KLAQ in El Paso, Texas. Known for their genre of doom metal, the live version of one of their death metal songs came as a pleasant surprise, and was even catchy enough for the audience to clap along. The band is currently in the middle of their North American tour, which will go until the end of May and is a follow-up to their successful Back to the Future tour that happened last fall.
Since its formation in 2008, the Swedish heavy metal band has released three studio albums along with one EP, If You Have Ghost, released in 2013. They debuted with Opus Eponymous in 2010 with their label Rise Above, until switching to Loma Vista as their label for their next two albums, Infestissumam (2013) and Meliora, which was released in August of last year and is their most recent album.
Ghost is known for its eccentric on-stage presence, especially because the majority of the band wears identical, face-concealing costumes while on stage. The vocalist, Papa Emeritus, wears a prosthetic face with skull face paint, representing a demonic anti-Pope. Each album changes the band’s appearance, but the vocalist is always portrayed as the same character. The other band members, known as the Nameless Ghouls, have kept their identities anonymous – not even their names have been disclosed to the public. Ghost has received much controversy over all of this, mostly due to the Satanic references.
