On Saturday, May 14th, world-famous radio station 106.7 KROQ will be hosting their annual Weenie Roast festival at Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, located in Irvine, California, and it will be the festival’s last show at this venue. The Irvine Meadows Amphitheater has hosted the Weenie Roast festival 23 times since the festival first originated back in 1993. As it has every year, proceeds from every single ticket to the festival will go to certain charities. This year, proceeds will go to the Surfrider Foundation, which is dedicated to the protection of oceans/beaches, and Heal the Bay, which strives to make Southern California waters safe, healthy, and clean.
Just this month, American rock band Weezer released their tenth studio album Weezer, also known as The White Album. This album marks their fourth self-titled album in their career, which started in the 90’s. The album is true to the band’s infamous Californian vibes in their music – it is described as a beach album. There’s a great review of it here. This summer, the band will be touring across North America with fellow rock band Panic! at the Disco.
American-Scottish alternative rock band Garbage will also be headlining Weenie Roast, and they’ve got some new music to play too, fresh off a hiatus. Just in the past week, Garbage released their new song “Empty”, a single off their upcoming album Strange Little Birds set to release on June 10th. The album will supposedly have hints of the sounds of the band’s self-titled debut album. To top it all off, Garbage will be headlining shows across Europe this summer.
Miike Snow, a Swedish indie pop band formed in 2007, currently has released three studio albums so far. Last month, they released their latest one, iii, an album full of electro-pop. The album is a result of a three-year hiatus. There’s a great review of it here. Back in January, the band released the video for their single “Genghis Khan”, a song also off their new album iii.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, April 29th at 12pm through Ticketmaster only.
