German EDM producer Alexander Ridha, or more known by his performance name Boyz Noize, has just released new video for his track “Starchild” featuring Poliça, the American synthpop and alt-rock band from Minneapolis. This new track is the third track release of his upcoming new album Mayday, which is scheduled to release to the public on May 20th via his household record label Boyznoize Records. The accompanying video was shot by LIL INTERNET studio, and features Poliça frontwoman Channy Leaneagh as the main character.

“Working on the song “Starchild” with Boys Noize and the video with Lil Internet were both two of the most inspiring and interesting things I’ve done so far. I am honored to be able to have spent time in both of their worlds and work under their minds for these collaborations” – Channy Leaneagh

The video was shot in Miami, depicting Leaneagh’s character dressed in an outfit composed of a unitard and a plastic raincoat, walking through the streets of Miami as people stare and comment while she is singing to the song, every so often cutting to a time-lapse view of the earth. The director of the video explains where his inspiration came from “The original inspiration was a harrowing film released last year by artists Alli Coates and Signe Pierce called “American Reflexxx.” The film, which depicts a masked woman walking through Myrtle Beach with violent results, ended up showing that Frankenstein narratives of persecution and misunderstanding of the “other” can unfold very easily in real life and in real time, even today” continuing on saying “I do recommend watching American Reflexxx as a counterpart to the “Starchild” video, and thinking about what both videos say about humanity and society- and if there is anything we need now more than ever, it’s empathy for the “other,” whoever the “other” is to you.”

Even though his music releases are far in between, Boyz Noize is looking to find his way back to the DJ ranks with his most dynamic album to date Mayday, providing infectious energy, and using his unique ear for music to fuse the essence of punk with the raw power of electronica. “I always try to challenge myself as a producer and a musician,” says Ridha. “Keeping the purity of electronic music but taking it somewhere new is the most difficult, and most motivating. MAYDAY is me taking the music I love to the future, no matter how uncertain the future seems”. Collaborating with plenty of strong names such as Poliça, Hudson Mohakee, Benga, Remy Banks, Spank Rock, and some other very special secret guests, the album speaks to the “No F**** Given” generation, breaking down walls and boundaries and tearing them to shreds.
