Last Sunday, English singer-songwriter Bat For Lashes showed up at Coachella to perform an hour-long set that included two of her new songs, “In God’s House” and “I Do”, highlighting others from The Haunted Man (her latest album released back in 2012). The new material she performed originates from her upcoming album, The Bride, set to be released on July 1st of this year. Keep up with what’s happening at Coachella this year by reading our reviews of each day: day 1, day 2, and day 3.
Last month, Bat For Lashes released her new video for “In God’s House”, the latest single off of her highly anticipated album The Bride, which is a concept album about a woman whose fiancé was killed in a car crash on the way to their wedding, and how the bride goes on her honeymoon alone to meditate on her grief and loss. “In God’s House” recounts the story of her wedding day with heartbreaking lyrics, and a deep emphasis on the word “fire.”
Bat For Lashes also recently announced her tour dates for this spring that will include several shows throughout the U.S. and UK. “I Do” is the lead single for her upcoming album The Bride. Aside from playing at Coachella, Bat For Lashes will also be performing at Governors Ball, coming up on June 3rd. Most of her shows will be taking place in small churches with the encouragement for attendees to wear wedding or formal attire. A portion of the proceeds will go to the David Lynch Foundation, a charity that teaches transcendental meditation to youth that are at-risk.
