Day 2 of Coachella 2016 has been a day filled with almost endless surprises. Today alone there were surprise appearances by Gary Clark Jr, Nas, Joe Walsh, Lorde, Sam Smith and many more. Not to be outdone, Saturday headliners Guns N’ Roses had a surprise of their own. Hot on the heels of this evening’s announcement that Axl Rose would officially be filling the role of AC/DC’s lead singer on the remainder of their rescheduled Rock or Bust tour dates (on account of singer Brian Johnson’s hiatus to let his ears recover), GNR was joined by AC/DC lead guitarist Angus Young.
With Young on extra lead guitar they did two faithful covers of AC/DC classics “Whole Lotta Rosie” and “Riff Raff.” Watch videos of snippets of the performances below. As with their recent shows in Las Vegas, Axl Rose is perched at mid stage sitting on a massive guitar-filled throne on account of his broken foot.
These performances came in a set filled with other Guns N’ Roses classics such as “Patience,” “Welcome to the Jungle,” “Mr. Brownstone,” “November Rain” and many more. Those who were with us in our coverage last year will remember that Young headlined Coachella on night 1 last year with AC/DC.
