American singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens has just announced plans for his new US Summer tour. Hitting up several festivals, and couple of venue shows, the multi-instrumentalist musician unveils a list of tour dates and spots that are sure to be big-crowd performances, with attendees from all over the country, on some of the biggest stages occurring over the upcoming summer. This tour is a continuation of the support for the artist’s new album Carrie & Lowell, which was released in 2015.
According to Pitchfork and Consequence of Sound, Sufjan Stevens, who is still on performing kick from his most recent album, intends to start his Summer tour at the ever so popular Coachella Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA, with scheduled performances on both weekends. After that Stevens tour will take him up North to Sasquatch! Music Festival in George, WA, where he will perform in front of the tens of thousands of guest who flock to the unbelievably scenic Gorge Amphitheater. Once he is done with that performance he will head to Boston for his last May show, but then flies out in mid-July to Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago, IL. July will also hold a very special performance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, then head back East, stopping in VA to play at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap, and then to NY for Panorama to finish off July. The tour will conclude with a couple of performances at the Outside Lands Music Festival, where he intends to bring his tour to an epic finale in San Francisco.
This upcoming tour may look small, but its the quality of the shows that are more important, and by the looks of this schedule, Sufjan Stevens will not be lacking on quality performances this Summer.
