Screamo supergroup United Nations have just announced, via Brooklynvegan, that they will be performing two huge shows during the early Summer, where they plan to take the stage with the trio RLYR, a band from Chicago known for their instrumental sound. The group is looking to provide several stellar performances to audiences and fans who have not seem them perform on tour in quite some time, and this time around fans will have two opportunities to watch their favorite band rock out.
United Nations roots can be traced back to 2000, where Geoff Rickly, vocalist and lyricist for the band Thursday, started recruiting members for the screamo-rock band he was trying to form. Initially finding Daryl Palumbo, vocalist of Glassjaw and Head Automatica at the time, with Ben Koller, who was the drummer for Converge, plus several other recruits, it looked like Rickly found exactly what he wanted, however due to contract obligations with other labels, the additional band members were not allowed to be recognized as fellow band members. When the band released their first studio album in 2008, the cover was a picture of four people wearing Ronald Reagen masks (shown above), this was in order to keep their identity hidden from their record labels.United Nations no longer fears their contracts and look to show the entire band perform for their adoring fans this upcoming Spring and early Summer.
On the two show run that United Nations is going on, they will step out and join RLYR (pronounced Relayer), instrumental trio from Chicago, IL, composed of Colin DeKuiper (bass), Steven Hess (drums), and Trevor Shelley de Brauw (guitar), on stage as an opener to support RLYR’s new album Delayer which is scheduled to be released June 17th via Magic Bullet Records. United Nations hopes could be that this show will cause a huge splash for them and cause them to possibly book more tours for their adoring fans.
Each show looks to hold their unique Screamo inspired music, and each fan can look forward to a very special experience when attending one of United Nations upcoming shows this tour.
